Sage is located at the University of British Columbia Vancouver Campus and offers fresh, modern West Coast cuisine prepared with ingredients that are local, seasonal and organic whenever possible.

Sage is located in the Leon and Thea Koerner University Centre at the University of British Columbia – a facility with a long and distinguished history as The Faculty Club. The Faculty Club dates back to 1946, but was relocated to The University Centre in 1957, thanks to funds contributed by the University of British Columbia’s Capital Gifts fundraising campaign. It was a favourite spot on campus for faculty and distinguished guests to gather and dine until its closure in 1994.

In 1999, the facility reopened as the Leon and Thea Koerner University Centre. It became home to Sage Restaurant and the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies. Sage expanded beyond serving faculty exclusively, and became a well-loved destination for catered events and lunchtime dining.

Bree Hargraves

Born and raised Australian, Chef Bree discovered her passion for food and wine at an early age. She moved to Canada eight years ago, after pursuing a culinary apprenticeship and sommelier certification. Bree has worked in award-winning hotels, resorts and renowned wineries spanning from PEI to Pender Island. She expresses her passion and creativity by showcasing local and seasonal produce on her menus as a bid to connect people to the abundance this beautiful region has to offer.

Nicky Lau

Our Catering Coordinator, Nicky, is somewhat of a legend in the Vancouver wedding industry. Since joining Sage in 2015, he has coordinated more than 1,000 UBC events, weddings, corporate parties and private events. The feedback we hear most often is that Nicky made the event for event hosts and guests with his professionalism, perfectionism, and unique and memorable approach to coordination.

Levi Semadeni

Levi is our Business Development Manager. After graduating with honours at Ecole Hôtelière of Lausanne, one of the leading hospitality schools in the world, Levi worked in some of the finest hotels in France, Cambodia and Switzerland. Levi is fluent in five languages and offers a wealth of experience in business development, food and beverage, catering operations, and sales.
